Woolmer Green
The first time I dug at Woolmer Green was in 1975 when you only had to dig a few feet of ash to get your rewards. Back in those days I used to take everything home with me, even the glass that was sick. After 25 years I have still got the bug. Through a digging pal of mine Stuart Roffey I heard that Woolmer was going to be machined over a three day period.

Over the past 25 years all of the reachable finds have been hand dug. The next few pictures give you some idea of the vast size of the tip and the depth of the ash.
Woolmer Green before the digger gets in! That green codd!
The size of the hole that the digger can make. I think that lid is down there somewhere says Paul!
